How well a facial works also depends on what you do in the days before and after. The good news: the most important rules are the same for almost every treatment. Here they are at a glance.
Before your appointment
1. Come without makeup
That way the treatment can start straight away, and your skin analysis shows what your skin is really like. At the Brow Bar the same goes for eye makeup.
2. Pause retinol and peels
Don’t use retinol products or acid peels in the days before your appointment. This is especially important before laser, pigmentation treatments and microneedling.
3. No fresh tan, no sunburn
Fresh sunburn is a reason to postpone any treatment. Before a pigmentation treatment, skip sunbathing, tanning beds and self-tanner in the weeks beforehand.
4. Tell us about medication and active ingredients
Let us know before the treatment which medication and active ingredients you use, for example retinol or blood thinners. Before microneedling this is a must.
5. Don’t squeeze blackheads and spots yourself
Squeezing beforehand irritates the skin and can leave marks. During a facial cleansing your pores are cleared gently.

6. Sun protection every day
In the first days after a treatment, sun protection is a must. After laser and pigmentation treatments, use SPF 50 every day and avoid direct sun.
7. Makeup only after about 24 hours
After HydraFacial, microneedling, acne treatment and facial cleansing, it’s best to wait about 24 hours before wearing makeup. After a signature facial a few hours are usually enough.
8. No peels for a few days
Your skin needs rest after the treatment. Skip peels and retinol for a few days and choose gentle, soothing care instead.
9. Pause sauna and sport
On the day of your treatment, skip the sauna and intense exercise. After a laser facial, avoid sauna and sun for two to three weeks.
Special rules for individual treatments
- Pigmentation spots: the spots may darken briefly. That’s part of the process, please don’t scratch them off.
- Acne treatment: don’t touch or squeeze the treated areas.
- Brow Bar: keep brows and lashes dry for the first 24 hours, no steam and no sauna on the same day, don’t rub.
- Skin analysis: bring your skincare products as a photo or list, so your routine can be adjusted in a targeted way.
When it’s better to postpone your appointment
If one of these applies to you, get in touch with us beforehand. Then we’ll find a suitable appointment together.
- fresh sunburn or open skin
- active herpes
- acutely inflamed skin or a rosacea flare-up
- ongoing isotretinoin therapy
- pregnancy or breastfeeding (for laser, microneedling and Morpheus8)
Please always have suspicious, growing or unclear moles checked by a dermatologist first.
