With more people embracing the natural look and plenty of celebrities singing its praises, the HydraFacial has become one of the biggest trends in skincare. It’s estimated that one HydraFacial is performed somewhere in the world every 15 minutes. Commonly offered by dermatologists and spas, this treatment addresses a range of concerns, including acne, dryness, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. Let’s take a closer look at the HydraFacial and its benefits to help you decide if it’s right for you.
What is a HydraFacial?
The HydraFacial, also known as HydraDermabrasion, is similar to microdermabrasion because it exfoliates the skin. But while microdermabrasion uses aluminium oxide crystals, the HydraFacial is a multi-step process that combines chemical exfoliation with deep hydration. It delivers more visible results than a regular facial and is gentle enough to be done one to two weeks after more intensive procedures such as chemical peels or laser treatments. The HydraFacial effectively removes dead skin while soothing and hydrating the skin.

Benefits of a HydraFacial
The HydraFacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration in one treatment. It uses a process called Vortex-Fusion® to deliver antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid into the skin. The treatment removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while infusing the skin with hydrating, nourishing serums. The HydraFacial is:
- soothing and refreshing
- non-irritating
- non-invasive and non-surgical
- visible straight away
How does a HydraFacial work?
A trained esthetician performs the HydraFacial in three steps, using a handpiece with interchangeable tips, one for each step:
- Deep cleanse and peel: A vortex tip loosens dirt and debris from deep within the pores. At the same time, the skin is exfoliated with acids such as lactic, glycolic and salicylic acid.
- Extraction: A second tip vacuums any remaining debris out of clogged pores.
- Deep hydration: Finally, a pen-like tip applies a hydrating serum, usually containing hyaluronic acid and peptides.
HydraFacial aftercare
You see the results of a HydraFacial immediately. Most people notice brighter, more radiant skin and a more even tone, without irritation, redness or peeling. There is no downtime. No special aftercare is needed, but we recommend avoiding exfoliation and invasive procedures right after the treatment.
How often should you get a HydraFacial?
How often a HydraFacial makes sense depends on what your skin needs. Some people benefit from a treatment every two weeks, while others find that once a month is enough. Your esthetician or dermatologist can recommend the right frequency for your skin type and goals. At AFACIAL we discuss this during your skin analysis, which is included at your first visit.
How much does a HydraFacial cost in Vienna?
At AFACIAL a HydraFacial costs between €169 and €299 per session, depending on the package. The HydraFacial Glow To Go, for example, is €169 for 40 minutes. Add-ons are available too, such as LED light therapy: red light boosts collagen production, blue light fights bacteria. You’ll find every package with price and duration in our price list.
